On a warm July evening in Perry, Georgia, I met Kayla and William for a combination of motherhood and milestone photos. Not only did Kayla and I used to teach together, but we were pregnant at the same time. Because of this, it was so special to document her son as a curious two year old!
Hidden in the outskirts of Perry, this idyllic garden was perfect!
This idyllic little garden outside of Perry is a beautiful location for photos. They belong to Mary Royal, who owns a local flower business and is frequently at the Perry Farmers Market. Her seasonal arrangements are always fresh and have great variety. In fact, Mary loves creating arrangements that feel like you just picked them yourself. She grows a large variety of flowers-everything from roses, hydrangeas, dahlias, zinnias, and even herbs. I highly recommend stopping by the market on Saturday mornings to purchase one of her beautiful arrangements!
Family photos are always worth the effort!
The garden was filled with glorious sunshine for these sweet milestone and motherhood photos. We explored, found treasures amongst the flowers, and I got to document the irreplaceable bond between mother and son. Without a doubt, toddlers are some of my favorite subjects to photograph. Their energy is constant, they delight in the smallest of things, and are always willing to play games. You never have to be worried about your toddler’s behavior with me. As a mama of two little boys and a teacher-it takes a lot to phase me!
Ultimately, the relationship between mother and child is a blessing to witness. Motherhood photos have a special place in my heart because I know all too well how us moms don’t often get in front of the camera! Our babies grow and before you know it, all we have left are photos to cherish. If you’ve been thinking about having your own motherhood photos taken (we can even go to this magical garden!), I’d love to hear from you!
