In Home Family Photos

Before their move to Alabama, the Hurst family wanted to document their time in their time in Georgia with in home family photos. What better place to take photos at then the place you are most comfortable in!

Home is where your family is

Being invited in to your home to document your family is a special experience. Kelsey and Will wanted their photos to highlight the love they had for each other and how connected they felt in this home. In home family photos are more intimate than outdoor photos. Because your family is already comfortable, your interactions are authentic and relaxed. The whispers to your children, the chubby hands that grab your face, the loving glance to your spouse as you take in all the love under your roof. The beauty of your unique family dynamics are captured for you to remember forever.

A stress free experience

Taking in home family photos has many benefits. First, you don’t have to worry about getting everyone in the car on time or keeping outfits perfect. Having two of my own, I know how hectic that part can be! We get to capture your family having fun, with the normal interactions you’ve had a million times. The only difference is that this time, I’m there with you making sure I capture every bit of that magic! Keep scrolling to read my top three tips for preparing your own home for photos!

Preparing your home

Having two young children, I know how baby items tend to end up everywhere. The idea of having in home family photos can seem like more work! But I promise they’re not. I have three easy tips for preparing your home.

  1. Declutter random objects-this can be as quick as stuffing everything into a spare room or closet the morning of your photos and takes 5 minutes.
  2. Find the room with the most natural light. You don’t have to have every single room impeccable. Find the ones with the most light. This is usually near a window and can be a hallway, a bedroom, or a stairwell. For the Hurst family’s photos, we sat by one window in the living room. The rest of the photos were done in the yard and the front of the house. Doesn’t get easier than that!
  3. Lay out outfits the night before. In order to really make you feel comfortable, take out the guesswork of outfits by laying everything out the night before. For kids, this means everything head to toe from headbands to underwear to shoes (if you want them). This will make the morning go smoothly!

Nothing brings me more joy than capturing the real and authentic relationships that make your family beautiful. In home family photos are a perfect way to do that! If you’d like to document your family in home, I’d love to hear from you!
