Looking for things to do with kids in Little Rock? As a mom of 3, I’ve got you covered! I’ve rounded up my ultimate list of activities, just in time for the weekend.
Parks
- One Heart playground at Burns Park-an inclusive park on the side of Burns Park in Little Rock with the baseball fields. The Rocketship playground is right across the road.
- Two Rivers Park -another truly inclusive Little Rock playground that has something for children of all abilities to enjoy.
- The Old Mill-a picturesque park in North Little Rock that is also on the National Register of Historic Places, this is a very entertaining and beautiful family outing. You can actually go in the Mill and your kids will get a kick out of going on the bridges (or at least mine did!). Careful, this is not entirely suitable for people who use wheelchairs or have difficulty walking. The path can be uneven, but they can enjoy the park from the perimeter.
- Margaret Clark Adventure Park-a playground right on the river in downtown Little Rock. This park is not a traditional primary-colored playground. It features boulders, statues, and a large slide. Perfect for littles who love to climb and explore!
- MacArthur Park Unlimited Playground-situated in MacArthur Park by the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, this is another inclusive playground for kids of all ages.
- Julius Breckling Riverfront Park-near the Clinton Presidential Center in downtown Little Rock, this park is great for older kids who love to climb. The park is right on the river and also features a walking trail.
- Lakeshore Park Playground-a beautiful playground in North Little Rock surrounded by trees, a play structures, and a giant boat. This park also has a small lake!
- Reed’s Bridge Battlefield Heritage Park-Jacksonville, Arkansas
- Lake Valencia Play and Splash Park-Maumelle, Arkansas
Restaurants
- All Aboard Restaurant-perfect for the train lover in your family! This family friendly spot has a train themed setting and the food is delivered on little trains! Don’t miss out on kids happy hour, everyday from 2-4pm. Kids meals are just $3.
- City Silo Table + Pantry-located on Chenal Parkway, City Silo is one of my personal favorites. If you love nourishing food with clean ingredients, this is the spot. We come here with our three kids frequently! Their coffee is also amazing AND they serve it to you in a real mug. They also offer a little store with various food items. My favorite part about this is they offer almost everything in gluten and dairy-free options (many can be vegan as well). So wonderful if you have family members with those dietary considerations.
- Blackberry Market-another personal favorite in downtown Argenta. The coffee is delicious, many items can be made gluten free and vegan, including bakery items. For even more fun, stay parked after eating here and catch the Rock Region Metro Streetcar, which has a stop right across the street. The streetcar runs for free and your vehicle-obsessed toddler will love you forever.
- Blue Ember Smokehouse-located in West Little Rock, this bbq restaurant is casual and loud inside (perfect for kids). The kids meal comes with ice cream, which is a fun addition. The lines get very long on Sundays around lunchtime, but since you order at the counter, they go by quickly. Try the apple barbecue sauce-surprisingly delicious!
Activities
- Little Rock Zoo-we LOVE coming here with our family. The yearly membership for our family of 5 is $100 and worth every penny. My kids are under 5, so it’s the perfect size for us while still being entertaining. The farm section with the playground and sensory garden are must-visits every time we go.
- Rock Region Metro Streetcar-like mentioned above, the streetcar runs free on a 3.5 mile loop in downtown Little Rock.
- Museum of Discovery-located in downtown Little Rock, this interactive science museum is sure to be a hit with your kids. They also offer educator workshops, homeschool events, Wiggle Worms storytime and activities for kids 6 and under, Parents Night Out, sensory friendly hours and more.
- Libraries-the CALS library system is just fantastic! I’m a big fan of their toy checkout system where you can borrow everything from costumes to baby toys to Melissa and Doug toys. If you’re not a resident of Arkansas (I’m looking at you, fellow military families!), you can purchase a non-resident yearly pass for $54 that allows you to checkout books and toys. The libraries offers workshops, events, movies, storytimes, and more.
- Rock Creek Play Tubes-part of The Church at Rock Creek, their indoor playground is open to the public from 8:30-3:30pm and are free!
- Share the Love Kids Club-if you read my post on 15 indoor activities for kids, you know my family LOVES this indoor playground! Highly recommend the monthly membership. They also offer space for hosting birthday parties and special events. This month’s is a princess tea party-so sweet! Want more options for indoor playgrounds? Click the link to the 15 indoor activities blog post, I list them all there!
- St. Joseph Farm Stand-this is a little hidden gem I found over the weekend with my family. They have a little stand (indoors, which can be confusing when you pull up to it) housed at the St. Joseph center filled with local goods. Think sourdough, grass-fed meat, jams, and more. We purchased some DIVINE foccacia and sourdough, as well as muscadine jam. They also have goats, donkeys, and horses that you can stop by to see. They put on several events during the year and offer watermelon and blackberry picking in the summer.
- Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts-think it’s just a musem of art that your young children won’t be interested in? Think again! The Museum offers an incredible number of programs for kids, including Art Start (their version of storytime), Creative Saturdays, art classes and camps (also for adults!), and their children’s theater. This year’s performance is Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat. Want to instill a love and appreciation of art in your children? Entry to the museum is free!
- Simmons Bank Arena-keep an eye on events held here throughout the year! Monster Jam 2025 and Disney on Ice will be here in the next few months.
I hope this list helps you discover a new favorite activity to enjoy with your family!
