It’s not quite spring, but these family photos almost make you feel like it is! It was an absolute joy to photograph the Davis family again. The most beautiful images come about when you feel relaxed and trust me to capture your precious moments.
Can I tell you a secret? As a mama of two, I know exactly what runs through your mind when it’s time for family photos. Will my kids behave? What if someone cries? What if their outfits get wrinkled? Trust me when I say-I get it!! Furthermore, children are children-they need breaks, they have feelings, and that’s okay. The beauty of hour long sessions is that we get to capture authentic, relaxed moments while also respecting your little one!
3 tips for photographing children
- Relax! Let go of your expectations. If you are tense in the moment, it will come across in your family photos. I have lots of tricks up my sleeve to capture authentic moments with your family, so relax and enjoy the moment mama!
- Make sure your kids are well rested. Don’t book a session during nap time.!
- Have some kind of treat as a last resort. Sometimes kids just need a little bit of motivation. Bring a snack that’s easy to give out but doesn’t stain (for example-cheerios or fruit gummies are fine, skittles are a no go!)
Luckily, the Davis family embraced the chaos that can come with photographing little ones and these family photos came together beautifully. The location was a dream, the light was perfect, and the outfits coordinated and had different patterns and textures for visual interest. Enjoy some of my favorite images from this (almost) spring family session! If you’re interested in booking your own session, I would love to hear from you!
