A popular park in Peoria, Illinois, the gorgeous Donovan Park is one of my go-to spots for photography sessions. As a Peoria, Illinois newborn, family, and maternity photographer, your session location is one of the most important things we select! A former golf course, Donovan Park has been converted to a sprawling park right in the heart of Peoria. With stunning scenery, the most beautiful light, and a variety of spots to incorporate, it’s one of the best spots for your photos. This golden hour maternity session captures that best of Donovan Park. With stunning scenery, the most beautiful light, and a variety of spots to incorporate, it’s one of the most idyllic spots in Peoria, Illinois for your photos.

One of the things I love most about Donovan Park is how beautiful it is year-round. No matter the season, you’ll find a stunning backdrop for your photos. Spring brings delicate pink and white blooms, summer fills the park with lush greenery, and fall transforms the landscape with warm golden grasses and rich seasonal tones. With such a variety of natural scenery throughout the year, Donovan Park offers a timeless setting that complements every stage of your family’s story. Wondering if studio maternity photos may be a better fit for you? This post can help you decide.

My favorite thing to recommend to clients is to turn your maternity photo session into a date night. After your photos, head to Cyd’s in the Park for a delicious meal overlooking the park. If you’re looking for something more casual, stop by their market for a takeaway lunch, coffee, or sweet treat to enjoy together. You’ll be able to bring your children back and show them where the you took the photos, making the session even more meaningful.

The ideal time for maternity photos is typically between 28 and 34 weeks of pregnancy. During this window, your baby bump is beautifully visible, but you’re often still comfortable enough to move around and enjoy your session. Every pregnancy is different, so if you’re expecting multiples or have concerns about delivering early, consider scheduling closer to the beginning of that timeframe. I recommend reaching out during your second trimester to reserve your preferred date, especially during the busy spring and fall seasons. If you’re ready to reserve your date, please reach out on my contact page so we can begin planning!
